HMVB Resin Workshops
Our hands-on resin classes in Los Angeles are all about bringing people together through creativity. Handmade in Venice Beach hosts beginner-friendly resin workshops at some of our favorite venues across Venice Beach and LA β perfect to join solo, with a friend or for a creative date. No experience needed.
Our approach to resin is creative, playful and low-pressure. Weβll walk you through the basics of working with epoxy resin β from mixing and pouring to layering your design β while you create a one-of-a-kind tray or coaster set using dried flowers, pigments, glitter, photos, gold flakes and more. Some workshops, including our Seascape and Color Play classes, explore color, texture and movement within resin.
Classes are social and approachable, with plenty of room to experiment and make the finished piece completely your own.
You can also bring the experience home with one of our DIY resin kits, designed with the same materials and creative freedom as our in-person workshops.
Because resin is such a versatile and highly customizable medium, itβs also one of our favorites for private events and brand activations. Projects, colors and materials can be tailored to your celebration, product, team or creative vision.

π¨ Resin FAQ
Can I customize my resin piece?
Yesβcustomization is a core part of resin workshops. Depending on the class, you can choose flowers and other decorative elements, handles, glitter, etc. You can even bring pieces you want to be part of the design (just make sure they are dry i.e. no fresh flowers)
Each piece is entirely unique.
What is the process like?
Short video overviewΒ here.Β
Before the workshop we will measure materials for your base layer, which you will mix & pour in the workshop.
During the workshop, youβll design your tray arranging florals, pigments, and elements while the resin is in its most fluid and creative stage. This layer sets the foundation of your piece.
Final sealing layer is completed at home. Youβll leave the workshop with:
- Your partially cured resin piece
- Everything necessary to seal your piece at home
- Clear written instructions for finishing and curing at home
Some movement of florals or elements can occur during transport, as resin can move for up to 4 hours. This natural shift is part of working with resin and adds to the organic, one-of-a-kind nature of each piece.
Once home, youβll pour the final sealing layer, which locks everything into place and gives your piece a smooth, finished surface. Full curing typically takes 36β48 hours, after which your piece will be solid and ready to enjoy.
Can I bring my own materials to use in the tray?
Absolutely! We love seeing you bring personal pieces. Please make sure everything is fullyΒ free of moistureΒ (i.e. florals).
If you are bringing paper/pictures, we recommend sealing with something like mod podge.
Can resin pieces have bubbles or imperfections?
Small bubbles or natural variations may occur and are normal with resin art. Techniques are used during class to minimize bubbles, but minor imperfections are considered part of the handmade process.
How durable are resin pieces?
Resin trays are meant to be decorative should be handled with care. Coasters are good to use as intended
Avoid:
- Prolonged direct sunlight
- High heat or very cold temperatures (i.e. placing hot or iced beverages on)
- Abrasive cleaners
How long does resin take to cure?
Most resin pieces requireΒ 24β72 hoursΒ to fully cure depending on thickness and environmental conditions. During this time, pieces should remain undisturbed.
Youβll receive clear take-home instructions on care and handling.
Is resin suitable for kids?
Resin workshops are designed forΒ adults or older teensΒ - minimum recommended age is 12.
Any transport guidance?
Resin can continue to move for up toΒ 3β4 hours after pouring. We recommend keeping your piece flat and minimizing movement during that time.
Youβre always welcome to hang out in the area a bit longer to allow additional curing time before transporting your tray (especially if you have a longer drive).
What if my resin piece doesnβt turn out as expected?
Resin is an experimental, creative medium. While guidance is provided throughout the workshop, outcomes vary based on design choices and material behavior. This variability is part of the experience.
